To obtain root permissions on the Samsung S3 just follow these steps:
- First download the archive that will later be "flashing" on the phone to enable the root HERE (the archive also contains an old version of Odin that we will not use in this guide)
- Now extract the archive containing Odin (downloaded above) to a folder of your choice
- In the same folder extract the contents of the archive containing the files to flash your phone to the root
- Now start Odin click on "PDA" and select the file "CF-Root-Auto-m0-M0xx-gti9300.tar.md5"
- Make sure at this point that the only boxes that are selected are those corresponding to the "Auto Reboot" and "F.Reset Timer" usually already selected by default, and of course the box corresponding to the button "PDA".
- Activate the debug mode on the phone by going to Settings -> Developer options -> USB debugging
- Now turn off your phone and start it in download mode, a special mode used by Samsung service center to flash through Odin content (in our case the root, but also applies to the Samsung official firmware). To activate the download mode by phone turned off press and hold the HOME, POWER and VOLUME DOWN 'keys left as soon as the phone is turned on!
- Now give confirmation by pressing the VOLUME UP and then connect your phone to your PC wait until drivers are installed and if Odin recognizes the phone should light up the first rectangle to the left in blue.
- Now you are ready to flash, press the START button and wait a few seconds required to complete the procedure. Once you have finished all the phone will automatically restart and if all goes well you should find among the installed applications SuperSU.
